The (painted) steering wheel that is shown on the photos was the 3rd / 4th season one with the grooves in the grips.

The grooves are filled up with filler to make the 1st / 2nd season wheel from it, so it's that easy to convert it!

And as you can see, it will turn out great once it's completely finished.
